It's Holiday Book-Buying Season, Bookcasters!

Hey there Reader,

It's December and that means it's time for holiday celebrations, but also for buying books for all of the readers in your world, including the smallest ones!

This month's Bookscast Newsletter features Oklahoma children's authors who have created amazing books for kids of all ages, from board books to smart and challenging middle grade books. Links are to their web sites where you can find out more and get their work.

Fill up the stockings with books from these fantastic authors:

  • Tammi Sauer - Award-winning author of over 30 picture books, including the 2023 Oklahoma Book Award winner, Mary Had a Little Plan.
  • Mariana Llanos - Author of books in both English and Spanish, including the 2022 Oklahoma Book Award Winner, Run Little Chaski / ¡Corre, Pequeño Chaski!
  • Dr. Beth Brown - Author of the Adventures with Divot and Swish books for elementary readers, encouraging kids to develop "superpowers" like confidence and courage.
  • June Coleman - Introducing Joyfull Lee is Coleman's debut book about a girl with a big heart and a talent for mischief.
  • Eileen Hobbs - Author of the Heath Cousins series for middle grade readers about a group of cousins who discover a fantasy world.
  • Anna Myers - Oklahoma's most decorated children's author, inducted into the Oklahoma Writers' Hall of Fame in 2013. Author of 19 books for children and middle-grade readers, including the classic Red Dirt Jessie.
  • J.J. Johnson - Author of the Iggy and Oz series for middle grade readers, particularly boys.
  • Kim Ventrella - Author of spooky middle grade books that explore big ideas and infuse everyday settings with a touch of magic.
